Produced by Pitman Farms in California, a family owned business that has been raising poultry for three generations; Mary's free-range chickens and turkeys (named after Mary Pitman) are humanely raised in a natural and healthy environment. Don Pitman began raising free-range turkeys and chickens in 1954, and their son David continues the family tradition. Pitman farms are the only California poultry farms using an air-chilled system, which is by far the safest and healthiest way to process chicken and preserve natural flavor.
Mary’s Chickens are never de-beaked.
Mary's Free Range Chickens grow naturally, with plenty of open space on their California ranch. All of Mary’s chickens are raised in a caring, stress-free environment, on ranches in sunny California. They are fed a high quality vegetable protein diet with no animal by-products or additives.
Mary’s Free-Range Chickens are processed and cooled individually using cold air rather than the commonly used method of placing chickens in a communal bath of water. This air-chilled method prevents the absorption of water, and greatly reduces potential bacterial cross contamination.
You will instantly notice the difference in taste.
The air-chilled method produces a better tasting chicken – period. With no water added, no water is absorbed; the air-chilled method preserves the natural juices and real chicken flavor. In addition, hundreds of gallons of water are saved everyday by using the healthier, more natural, air-chilled system.
